Hello, and welcome to my site. It is a pleasure to have you here.

My name is Danielle and I am just an old soul passionate about writing stories.

My love for writing, one could say, either began as a child or because my mother loved reading novels from Danielle Steel when she was younger, so much so that she named me after her. And fancy that - I became a writer too.

As a child, I was often the first to enter writing competitions, and was notorious for bothering my English teachers with manuscript drafts. I would also enlist the help of my father, who I imagine went to work early just to secretly print off pages and pages of short stories and novellas. I would wait eagerly for him to come home just so I could fashion them into books. Looking back, they were riddled with spelling and punctuation errors, but are a nice memory of how much writing meant to me at a young age.

I remember my parents asking me how I wrote my books - if I thought about them before I wrote and if I planned them out.
I simply replied, "I just write."
I would only imagine things before writing down what I saw. It grew on me, as did my vivid imagination, and my love for writing has only grown stronger.

I create stories that end up being brought to life in historical settings, but that is only because I love history. Though I assure you; you do not have to love history to enjoy them, for they are written in a way that is easy to understand, and contain relatable, captivating events that will keep you reading.

My goal is simple: to take you on the journey I went on, to show you this adventure I dreamt, to help you feel what the characters felt.
It is to make you think, to make you feel joy and excitement, even worry and despair for the characters in their situations. I believe that when a story changes your perspective, makes you see things differently, or is just so captivating that it is forever memorable, that is when I have truly succeeded as an author.

I have two dogs - a sprightly senior miniature Poodle who is ever so full of love, and a cheeky but clever Groodle that loves annoying his big brother. As much as I love them, my pride and joy is my husband, who never fails to answer the call of his author wife wishing for him to read her work with brutal honesty.

My favourite genres are anything historical, crime fiction/mystery and the classics - but a good story is a good story.

My favourite modern author is Stephen R Lawhead - his Pendragon series started my love for all historical genres, including fantasy.

My bad habit is most definitely buying as many old hardback novels from secondhand shops as I can find.
Every. Single. Time.
An unsuccessful visit is one where I leave with nary a book in hand.

If I could live in any historical time period, it would be the romantic age of the Renaissance, for fashion, art and literature flourished, and life seemed simple despite the lack of technological conveniences we have today. Plus, horseback riding over the rolling hills and rich woodlands of an English countryside sounds marvellous.

My favourite music to listen to whilst writing is anything mellow from Olafur Arnalds. It gets me 'in the zone', as some would call it.
